Where is the salt? Where is the light?:

"We should not ask “what’s wrong with this world?” For that diagnosis has already been given. Rather, we should ask, “What has happened to the salt and light?"

John R.W. Stott

We all see the news and see the struggle our country is facing. 2020 has been quite the test and we are only halfway thru. When I started the IOFLA in 2017 the first message was, “It’s time for the second half”

A lot of you out there understand that when your team is down that when halftime is over its time for the momentum to shift to the second half.

2020 is now past the halfway mark. The first half may have been great for you, for some, not so much. We all know that we now have less than half of the time to complete our tasks, get everything finished and most importantly, win before the year’s end.

This has not been a good year for us in this business (or really anything else). In fact I have heard it over and over again people saying “I have never seen it this bad” or “It hasn’t been this bad since the 80’s”.

Some of us here were not working in the 80’s but we may have had parents or family who were.

A lot has happened since then. A lot has happened since 2016 and a lot has happened this year but it’s time for the momentum to shift.

In Romans 13 starting in verse 11, Paul is saying to the Romans…

11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

Personally, spiritually, physically and professionally we have allowed the darkness to beat us down, to change us, to weaken us, to cause us to be silent. Uncontrollable circumstances have claimed many to lose faith. Things look so bleak that nothing could change this.

The Bible is filled with men and women that were used by God to do extraordinary things. All of them were at wits end. All of them were defeated, all of them had lost, and most of them had become silent.

But somewhere along the way, on a Damascus road, or on a 40 year desert trip, or in a control room, or at some luncheon they heard the call. It is high time!

I was laid in 2016 for 16 weeks. This was even after having sold close to $500K in services in less than two months. Like some of you I was at a loss. It would have been really easy to just curl up and “go to sleep”, but I didn’t.

I dug in deep in the Word and my time with Him grew. Matthew chapter 5 is where I spent a lot of my time.

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
    For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
    For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
    For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

And then He hit me with this.

Believers Are Salt and Light

13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

How many times had I relied on Him and simply obeyed and followed?

I am obeying Him now and He has sent me to tell you all, the first potion of this trial or dry season or recession or whatever you’re going through is over.

Matthew 18:20(NKJV)

For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

The whole point of this is to encourage you and to help you understand you are the light and salt to this world and this industry!

It didn’t say the employed, it didn’t say the CEO, it didn’t say best designer or salesman or superintendent it simply said YOU.

“Well who am I?”

The poor in Spirit,

Those who mourn,

The meek,
Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
The merciful,
The pure in heart,
The peacemakers,
The persecuted for righteousness’ sake

I wrote that in July of 2017 and it speaks now like it did then. We will get thru this. Choose this day who you will serve.

If you want a relationship with Him, seek Him.

If you want the devil to leave you and your family alone, flee from him and seek the One who is your Savior.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego served the Lord! When will be a better time than to look around your life right now, look at our world, our state and ask yourself, "am I serving Him?"

You may say "its hard because of what the world is doing" than I leave you with this.

John 16:33 (NKJV)

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

He has overcome COVID-19, cancer, unemployment, loss, pain and even death. Will you trust Him today?

Serving with you,

Dan Vallot
